'Don't Push Medical Laboratory Scientists To The Wall'-AMLSN President Warns

Medical Laboratory Scientists through the President, Association Of Medical Laboratory Scientists of
Nigeria, Alhaji Toyosi Raheem, has warned the Ministry Of Health (FMOH) not to push her members to the wall. This warning is coming on the heals of several court judgments in their favour not being implemented by the Ministry and various parastatals under her especially the health institutions.
Alhaji Toyosi Raheem made this remark in a well covered press conference during the elaborately executed public health lecture in Calabar the first capital city of Nigeria in Cross Rivers State.

Public Health Lecture Ends In Calabar As AMLSN Urges FG To Prepare For Zika Virus
The much publicized public lecture ended at Calabar over the weekend with a call to the Federal Government of Nigeria to expedite action on getting prepared for the wide spreading Zika virus bearing in mind that more diagnostic and surveillance Medical Laboratories should be put in place for testing and confirmation.


'Implement Court Judgments Now'- AMLSN
Basking in the euphoria of her victory at the NICN in Abuja, the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria has called on the government to implement the judgment without delay.

'University Collects Licencing fees from students Fraudulently' Ojokuku Hameed
Some lecturers in Nigerian Universities where Medical Laboratory Scientists are trained have been accused of extortion.  This information was aired recently by Ojokuku Hameed who wondered why monies for provisional licenses will be collected from students without remitting same to the MLSCN.

Renewal Of Licence Deadline Moved To 31st June
Dust over the 31st March deadline for renewal of practicing license as released by MLSCN in a recent public notice seems to have settled as the practitioners has been given up till 31st June to renew their licenses.

'MLSCN Should Imitate PCN On Graduate Employment'-
A concerned Medical Laboratory Scientist recently in an online forum has counselled the Medical Laboratory Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) to do more in ensuring availability of job opportunities for MLS in Nigeria.  He especially challenged the body to learn from the Pharmaceutical Council of Nigeria in this regard.

International Histology Congress Holds In Ghana March/April
The West African International Histology Congress will be coming up in Ghana from 31st March to 1st April, 2016.  This information was made available recently by the Nigerian coordinate of the conference Mrs. Olakemi Badirat Lawal.  The conference fliers has been circulated and prospective participants are to pay $50 as registration fee on or before 1st March, 2016.












Labour Dispute Looms In Health Sector Again As JOHESU Issues 14 Ultimatum
Another labour crisis is at the corner in the health sector if nothing is done by the Federal Ministry Of Health before 17th February 2016.  The Joint health sector unions (JOHESU) while lamenting breach of agreement by the Federal Government reeled out conditions and demands to be met in order to avert the imminent total strike.

Accolades continue to trail the Tam Adeyeye led publicity committee of AMLSN as members are more than elated with the level of wide and impactful publicity given to the recently concluded public health lecture in Calabar.
