2016 Year Of Great Expectation For Medical Laboratory Scientists

Welcome to your regular news update on top events and stories in the Medical Laboratory Science fraternity. The year 2016 holds lot of promise for MLS in Nigeria as they look forward to the correction of identified anomalies in the EEP and upgrading circular released by the office of the Head of Service of Nigeria. Issues on adjustment of CONHESS salary will be given keen attention by the leaders in collaboration with other unions in the health sector.  The minister of health, Prof. Adewole has engaged JOHESU on pending issues.  News from the grave vine suggest that progress is being made in that area.

TSA Palaver: AMLSN, MLSCN Go Their Separate Ways
The TSA Policy of the Federal Government has given some stakeholders in the MLS fold to throw a victory party as a recent circular from the MLSCN directs members to pay AMLSN dues into a separate account from 2016.
Subsequently, the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists has written her members to give details of monies to be paid into AMLSN account no. For years, some members has displayed displeasure over the marriage between AMLSN and MLSCN claiming that the alliance has not been in the general interest of members.

While some are jumping for joy that the EEP has been implemented at their centers, others are still wailing over the refusal of their various management to implement the circular to their advantage.
Things has not been the same since the Chief Medical Directors connived with certain interests in the office of the HOS to deny MLS of fully benefiting from the EEP.

The next Expanded National Executive Council meeting of the Association Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria will be holding in Calabar, the capital of Cross Rivers State in Nigeria come  3rd-5th February 2016. 'Make Move To Harmonize Positions On MLSD' Uchejeso Advises MLSCN
A concerned Medical Laboratory Scientist, Mr. Uchejeso has called upon the Medical Laboratory Council of Nigeria to collaborate with other stakeholders in the profession to harmonize positions of the the proposed new MLSD curriculum for the training of Medical Laboratory Scientists in Nigeria. This assertion was made in a recent online post on the heels of the preparation for the NUC stakeholders meeting of the programme.

Hon. Kunle Jenrade looks good to become the next chairman of the MLSCN Board if signals emanating from young MLS and other experienced members are anything to go by. There has been a recent subtle online campaign for the erudite professional and politician to emerge as the next MLSCN Board chairman. What then will happen? Time will tell.

Things seems to be working well for Lamee Tomtsu, AMLSN female activist if cyber signals online is anything to go by on the forthcoming elections of the Gombe branch of AMLSN.  She is jostling for the post of Secretary of the branch an ambition which has received wide support from her fans and well wishers. How this goodwill translate to electoral victory will be left to her campaign strategy and choice of members of the branch.
