Jolly Days Ahead For MLS-Presidential Committee’s Report Looks Good


Medical Laboratory Scientists in Nigeria now have something to cheer about if feeleers from the recently released Presidential Committee’s Report on Industrial harmony in the health sectore is anything to go by.
The report emantaing from the 181st ENEC meeting in Jos, Plateau State the  penultimate week revealed that the report made recommendations favourable to the issues affectigng Medical Laboratory Scientists in Nigeria

Pathcare Dares MLSCN, Challenges Its Regulatory Powers
The Pathologist in charge of Pathcare has challenged the regulatory jurisdiction of the Medical Laboratory Science Council Of Nigeria. Pathcare claims that the Medical And Dental Council Of Nigeria also has the power to regulate medical laboratories according to reports from the ENEC meeting.
But the ever competent and no-nonsense Registrar of MLSCN, Professor Anthony Emeribe has done justice to the threat through a widely circulated rejoinder to checkmate Pathcare’s inuendoes.

AMLSN Creates Own Organogram, Directs MLS To Insist On Compliance
A brand new organogram to be implemented for Medical Laboratory Scientists all over Nigeria has been created by the Association Of Medical Laboratory Scientists at its 181st ENEC meeting.
The organogram billed to be distributed to all State chapters and branches of the Association rightly outline administrative structure for MLS in public and private organisations. Medical Laboratory Scientists has been urged by the Association to disregard any contrary organogram by any employer.

‘Where Is The ENEC Meeting’s Communique?’-Egbojie
The leadership of the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists Of Nigeria has been tasked on the need to publish the communique of the 181st ENEC meeting. This call was made by Oserehmen Egbojie in one of his posts during the week by Oserehmen Egbojie. This call was to enhance continous public enlightenement, offensive strategy against detractors and to sustain the support currently enjoyed by the Association from the Nigerian press.

Health Bill Saga-NGO Moves To Settle Rift
Not satisfied that the health bill has been boxed to the corner and shut down by protest from other health professionals in the medical sector in Nigeria, an NGO has taken the initiative to mediate and resolve gray areas with a view to harmonising divergent views. The NGO though anonymous has scheduled a retreat for health professionals early December in Calabar, Rivers State, Nigeria.

Minister Sets Up Committee On MLS Scheme Of Service
The Minister of Health has set up a committee to look into issues surrounding the scheme of service of Medical Laboratory Scientists in Nigeria. This development was revealed in a press release recently during the week.

Cautious Optimism As FMOH Moves To Support MLSCN
In a surprise move, the Federal Ministry Of Health is now ready to support  the Medical Laboratory Scienice Council Of Nigeria in its effort to confront quackery and redress the chaotic laboratory services situation in Nigeria. In order to give effect to this, the MLSCN is compilling  a list of qualified, unqualified, employed and unemployed Medical Laboratory Scientist in Nigeria with a view to forwarding the list to the FMOH.
This compilation initiated by the FMOH has however not gone down well with some contributors in the all medical laboratory scientists forum who opined that the current romance by the Minister of health is suspicious.
Ondo To Host 182nd ENEC Meeting
The 182nd ENEC meeting has been scheduled to be hosted by the Ondo State branch of the Association Of Medical Laboratory Scientists in February.

Edo Wins Hosting Right For 2012 Annual Scientific Conference/AGM
The 2012 Scientific Conference and Annual General Meeting of the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria shall be holding in Benin City Edo State in September 2012. We wish them a successful hosting.
