G.C. Okara Reveals Amazing News On Medical Laboratory Services Policy

Okara Spreads Talismanic Goodwill: Answers Queries In Style


The president of the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists Of Nigeria, G.C. Okara has revealed that the nation has developed a medical laboratory services policy in an answer to a query by a concerned medical laboratory scientist during the past week. He also revealed that a strategic retreat was held between Monday 6th February to Thursday, 9th February.
Here is the full text of the revelation:
'Yes we do have a policy which was duly approved by both the National Council on Health and the Federal Executive Council of Nigeria. If you go the the Fed Min of Health website you will see the policy document for your study and use. It clearly provides for the creation of the Dept of Laboratory Services in every Ministry of Health in Nigeria. We started the process of drawing up a National Medical Laboratory Services Strategic Plan (NMLStP) this week in a meeting that lasted from Monday 6th - Thur. 9th Feb. 2012. We ended the meeting just yesterday. The exercise was under the distinguished and able chairmanship of Prof. Oyewale Tomori, facilitated and funded by some international development partners including CDC, USAID,APHL, DOD of the USA Embassy in Nigeria.Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists Of Nigeria,  AMLSN was duly represented by the National President, MLSCN was also represented by the Registrar, Prof. Emeribe & the Director Lab Accreditation/Regulation among other stakeholders. We
will continue with the assignments given to us between now and April when we reconvene to articulate the draft copy of the strategic plan. 
Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists Of Nigeria, AMLSN President is in the Drafting Team that was constituted at the meeting this week. The Strategic Plan will drive and guide the step-by- step implementation of the Policy. We will surely get to our destination in the strengthening of health care services of Nigeria. Laboratory services remain the key to the cure.
